What are Subterranean Termites? Subterranean Termites live underground. Termites Tunnel through soil looking for any type of wood to feed on. Termite colonies can often number into the millions. Termites are a very serious structural pest, and, if discovered in your home or business they must be addressed immediately. Subterranean Termites enter buildings or structures through mud tubes. Once Termites have built their mud tubes they will use them to travel between their feeding areas and their nest.


Signs That You May Have Termites

• Mud tubes under structures, attached to walls or near plumbing
• Termite droppings, which look like small, ridged, wood-colored pellets.
• Termite wings all of the same size (look like tiny fish scales) shredded near an entry point to your home.

• Trenching. This is a post construction method that St George Pest Control uses. A trench is dug around the structure, or infested area, and the termiticide is applied into the trench, soaking down to the subterranean nesting sites. This also creates a barrier between the structure and potential invading subterranean termites.

• Drill & treat. This is another method that St George Pest Control uses which involves drilling into the wood members, or through concrete, to reach the subterranean tubes and nesting site.  It is a pressure treatment, causing the product to spread out around injection sites.

• Baiting. This method can be used in any circumstance, it is set up with bait boxes around the property and monitored. Bait boxes can be placed around perimeter of dwelling or infestation at locations where there is evident termite activity, like walls and timbers
